The shipping costs for the return are pre-paid by us from Italy and the European Union. For countries outside the EU, return shipping fees are paid by the customer who is free to choose their preffered courier.

We kindly ask that you ensure that the product hasn't been used or damaged and is in the same original condition as it was when you received it (including the packaging). We suggest that you try your Velasca shoes on a soft surface (e.g. a carpet) before deciding whether to keep them.

How can I return an item?

Simply send the item back to us by contacting SDA (within Italy) or FedEx (outside of Italy). The shipping of the item is free of charge from Italy and all over Europe. You'll find all the necessary documentation inside the shoe-box (delivery address, return form and invoice).

What happens if the shoes I like are out-of-stock?

Velasca shoes are hand-made by Italian craftsmen in the small Italian town of Montegranaro, in the region of Marche. Because our shoes are individually tailored rather than factory made, our products may be out-of-stock from time to time.

If something you like is out-of-stock, please leave us your email on the website or send us an email at and we'll let you know when the model you are interested in becomes available again.

Where do you produce your shoes?

All Velasca shoes are hand-made in Italy, in the small town of Montegranaro, in the region of Marche. Producing our shoes in Italy means we face higher purchasing costs but it also means that our talented partners deliver the best quality on the market: we think it's worth it!

What materials do you use?

The quality of a shoe greatly depends on the materials used to produce it. For this reason, we select and use only the best European leather to create our shoes.

What materials do you use for the sole?

Depending on the shoe model, our soles are crafted using either genuine leather or the best quality Vibram rubber.

No compromises (not even where you wouldn't see them).

What shoe construction do you use?

Velasca shoes are hand-made, using the construction techniques of the world’s best shoemakers. Our craftsman follow the traditional double-stitching technique called Blake-Rapid. Using two stitches gives the shoe added resilience and durability minimising wear and tear over long periods. Because the sole is sewn on (rather than glued), you can have your Velasca shoes re-soled over and over again. In fact, they might just be the last pair of shoes you’ll ever have to buy!

What is the difference between a single-stitched and a double-stitched shoe?

Blake and Rapid are the names of two different stitchings techniques that attach the insole of the shoe to the outsole. A shoe constructed using the Blake technique has a single row of stitching holding the insole to the outsole. This leaves the shoe exposed to adverse weather conditions such as ground moisture. A shoe made using the Blake-Rapid technique has a row of Blake stitching along the insole; but, instead of attaching the insole to the outsole, it attaches the insole to a midsole. The midsole is then attached to the outsole by another row of stitching (that's the Rapid part) running outside the shoe.

Conceptually, it's a bit like a combination of Goodyear welting and Blake construction. Because the row of Blake stitching does not go all the way from the interior of the sole to the outsole, shoes made using this method don't experience the problem of ground moisture that Blake-constructed shoes have.

Now that’s just smart.

What is the difference between a Derby and an Oxford shoe?

Ok, we’ll start with their similarities; both shoes are an elegant choice for a smart look, usually pulled together with a formal suit, or chinos and a shirt. The difference between the two lies in the lacing. A Derby (also often referred to as a Gibson or Blucher) features open lacing and has eyelet facings stitched on top of the vamp (front section of the shoe).

This style of shoe is sometimes called an open front. The Oxford is a lace-up shoe with the eyelet facings stitched underneath the vamp. This style of shoe is sometimes called a closed front.

How do I take care of my Velasca shoes?

It is not advisable to wear the same pair of shoes for more than 2 days in a row. To ensure your Velasca shoes maintain their original shape, we recommend that you store them using a cedar wood shoe-tree when you’re not wearing them. Depending on the material and leather, we offer a series of accessories designed to take care of your shoes. Follow our blog for more juicy details on this.

How can you offer hand-made shoes for half the price of comparable products?

Velasca was born with a mission: to bring the best of Made in Italy shoes directly to your door at fair prices. We will always stay true to this principle. That’s why we sell directly to the final user through our website - it cuts out the middlemen and passes on the resulting savings to you!
