100% Brushed linen

Brushing linen gives it more weight, making it the star of fall and winter fashion. It is after all one of nature’s most durable plant-based fabrics, with thermoregulating properties. It doesn’t age, doesn’t pill, and doesn’t absorb odors. It’s completely recyclable and biodegradable: its cultivation consumes few nutrients from the soil and the entire plant gets used after harvesting.

For its production we put our trust in the Canclini workshops near Como, in the industry since 1925. They employ renewable energy sources and cutting-edge dyeing machines allowing them to save 70% on energy and water use. A fabric that’s fully traceable, grown without pesticides or fertilizers.

Care

This garment can be washed in the washing machine, on a low spin cycle that doesn’t exceed 30°C. Lay it out flat to dry to ensure it keeps its shape well.

Linen is particularly durable, but if you’d like to be even gentler, wash it by hand: leave to soak, rinse it out and wrap it in a towel before wringing out excess water to preserve the natural fibers.

Last tip from us: be conservative with the detergent and softener, there’s no need to overdo it. Store the clean folded garment in a cool dry place.

Design

This shirt has a shifted armhole, a typical tailoring technique from Naples and Apulia that requires time and precision, resulting in a more comfortable piece that gives you room to move.

Seams have seven stitches per centimeter: high-quality shirts have narrower stitches because they’re more refined and resistant.

The flat fell seam is 3mm wide: the border at the bottom is small and fine, and the side stitching is narrow and elegant. To fell means to sew on the wrong side, taking the excess fabric, folding it under a sewing machine foot and closing it all. This technique requires a certain level of experience.

The pockets are handsewn, affixed to the fabric with extreme precision.

Where the side seam meets the hem we’ve added a gusset, a small triangle of fabric to reinforce the stitching.

The finished garment is then washed, so the shirt will stay as beautiful as you see it. Our artisans line up the fabric at the cutting stage and only wash the garment once it is complete, to ensure it won’t shrink in subsequent washes.

Made in Italy

We’ve always put our trust in the hands of the best local craftsmen. Afterall, Italy itself is like a huge open-air workshop. This shirt was sewn in Francavilla Fontana, in the Brindisi province. The Apulian district has a long history in the textile industry. Antonio and Valentina, owners of our shirt factory there, have worked really hard to build a business that today operates worldwide.
