You would recognise these Oxfords anywhere: Goodyear welting. In smooth brushed calfskin, leather sole and with wingtip details, they are designed to last over time: the traditional "welt" stitching makes the shoes both resistant and easy to resole. The cork layer between the insole and the sole welcomes your foot: the more you wear them, the more they fit. Wear themit with blue knickerbocker trousers, a blue turtleneck and a double-breasted cashmere camel coat with trench cut.
Made in Monte San Giusto (Italy)
Goodyear welting is made with a strip of leather, called "welt", that runs around the entire perimeter of the shoe (this is what makes them recognisable, as you'll see) and is sewn to the upper and midsole directly on the shoetree; craftsmen then apply a layer of cork, making each step comfortable. The welt is now sewn to the sole, in perfect union with the rest of the shoe. Thus, the shoe is resoleable; see? It really is made to last a long time.
Unrefined leather goes through the traditional process called “tanning”. And is treated so to prevent it from decomposition or loss in flexibility. Afterwards, the leather is put in a rotating wood barrel with water and burgundy brown coloring solution for dyeing. Water is then warmed up to 60°C to help the color bind to the leather for a lasting finish.
Made with real leather, our soles respect and pay homage to tradition. They’re made from the best bovine leather in the market and gain their distinct color through “vegetal tanning”. And, they’re made to last over time.
The smooth full-grain calfskin leather, the most external and precious part, is slightly abraded, smoothing the surface; it is then brushed to obtain shine.
