WHERE WE WENT
Away from traffic
In the Monti district, among the up-and-down staircases and descents, among archaeology, churches and little shops, we stopped in the garden of the baroque Villa Aldobrandini, an oasis far from the city concert.
WHERE WE WENT
Full of history
Via Giulia was designed by Pope Julius II della Rovere with the architect Donato Bramante in 1508. It was the "via recta" (straight street), the longest and straightest street in Rome. From here it is easy to get lost in the Jewish ghetto, one of the oldest in the world.
WHERE WE WENT
A homely cuisine, since 1928
We couldn't resist the call of Roman tradition: at the trattoria "Al Pompiere" we tasted an amatriciana and learned how to clean artichokes (a bizarre request, we are aware).
WHERE WE WENT
Follow the Tiber
Along the avenues that run along the river, surrounded by walls (not from Roman times, but from the late nineteenth century), we look closely at the water moving and chasing it on our bicycles.
WHERE WE WENT
Ancient aqueducts
At the gates of Cinecittà there were 6 of the 11 aqueducts that supplied Rome from 312 B.C. onwards; in the face of such grandeur, we savoured the innovative spirit of this ancient people.
